Spring Crops

  • leafy greens, spinach, kale, arugula, radish, carrots, beets, swiss chard, mustard greens, turnips, root vegetables, onions, garlic.
  • Keep spring crops shaded

Summer Crops

  • Tomatoes, eggplants, melons peas, cucumbers. peppers, beans, basil, herbs

Overcrowding

  • The closer the plants, the more clipping pruning, trellising

Companion Planting

  • Marigolds attract pollinators, deters insects and birds.
  • Sunflowers attract pollinators.
  • Oregano or basil with Tomatoes to deter pests.

Crop Placement

  • Sow tall plants on north side of your garden to reduce shading. Sun-loving plants need 5-6 hrs of sunlight. Shade crops need 5 hrs. of sunlight.

Keep It Green

  • Don’t use chemicals.
